[Nagisa smiles brightly.]

And don't either of you say no! I wanted to do it and I've been careful about money, so it's just fine. Okay?

[After a minute, she hums a little to herself - just a few notes, not breaking out into song just yet. Still, it's a pretty peppy melody.]

Anyway, I also have a question for everyone else! I think I might be getting close to being ready for my first Gym Battle! I'm kind of nervous, though. I know Falkner uses Flying Types, so Kaze, my Pidgey, is out. and I have Yuuko, who's a bred Vulpix at level 11 with Will O' Wisp and Flamethrower, Dii-chan, who's level 12 with Pound, Growl, Refresh, and Double Slap, and Hashi, who's a bred Piplup and level 10, with Agility, Growl, Pound, and Bubble.

Do you think that'll be enough, or should I train a little more? I have a Ledyba, but Bug types are weak against Flying, and I got myself a Shinx from the Breeding Centre, but it'll still have to hatch. I can try and catch something around here, too...

I mean, this is like an opening day. I want to be as ready as I can be, you know?

I sing to Shinji-kun's Swinub all the time - it really likes the music.

But it's not just things like that. When Chieri first got here, I'd have made the trip from Cherrygrove back to New Bark Town and back again to make sure she was okay, but instead, Shinji-kun helped me send my Vulpix to help her get there safely. He's helped keep both of us safe from wild Pokemon and things.

Chieri pushes me to do better at things. She's really talented, but it just makes me want to push myself harder so I won't fall behind her. And she says it's the same for her. But it's more than that. We can talk to each other about anything.

So that is what a friend should do.

[ Here, Morgiana's convinced herself that she had to fight and push herself to the limit for her friends. To be their wings.

When all along, she could have taken a much simpler route. ]

You're a good friend? [ The tone she takes indicates that it's more of a question than a compliment though. ]

You can define it in a lot of ways, I think. I don't think there's any test you have to pass to be a good friend. A lot of things can make you a good friend.

[Nagisa tilts her head a little bit.]

I try to be. I try my best. I feel like I have a lot of really good friends, though, and I'm lucky there. I'm grateful, too.

You try to be? From the sounds of it, you already are a good friend.

[ Morgiana's honesty shines through her voice even if she's soft spoken. ] Do you learn from your friends?

Thank you! I try. And we're friends now, too. I'm Nagisa! It's nice to meet you.

[She can tell.]

I do. I've learned things from all of them - I sing with my friends, so there's things about that, but also things like determination and courage and being able to laugh and smile when things seem hard. Those matter, too, and I'm glad I got to learn those things.

Huh, we are? [ Why does she sound so startled to be someone's friend? ]

Thank you? [ So of course she thanks her with an awkward bow (not seen very well from the PokeGear's angle) and her confused tone. ] I'm not good at making friends, but... they seem to show up when they need my help.

You learned courage and to... smile?

[ Morgiana thinks of a time when one of them tried to get her to smile by making silly faces. While it worked briefly, it isn't something she's been able to duplicate easily on her own. ]

How?

Of course we are! Why wouldn't we be? I like talking to you, and I'd be glad to help you out if you needed anything. There's no reason we shouldn't be friends.

[Nagisa returns that bow.]

Mm. We had to fight sometimes, back home. It wasn't easy for me to learn that - I'd much rather talk with people than fight! But Yuuko-san and Sayaka-san both taught me how to be brave.

Smiling? That's all Sonata! She gives nicknames and makes little jokes and she just can't help making people laugh and smile. It's a lot easier to do that when I'm feeling down knowing she's out there being as happy as she is.

Oh, that's a lot like Aladdin.

[ It feels good to hear that there are other people as kind as him as she plops down, PokeGear in hand. ]
